Bushy Downs is located near Te Awamutu in the Northern King Country at over 300m above sea level. The rolling to steep contour property is mingled amongst 45 ha of native bush semi-connected to the 78,000ha Pureora forest park to the south. Pedigree Herefords have been part of the landscape here since 1943.

The 340 hectare property and 25 ha runoff is owned by Robert and Marian Port and now in the hands of the third generation, managed by Kelvin and Cynthia Port.
